Fishing in New York
on the worlds most beautiful shores and only 20 miles across from South
shore to North shore and 120 miles from Montauk to the Hudson River in
New York City.
Species found in and around Long Island include weakfish,
blackfish, bluefish, porgies, sea bass, winter
flounder, fluke, striped bass, cod, bonito, false
albacore and large pelagic fish like tuna, marlins and
sharks. Dolphin pods, sea turtle, whales, and seal
sightings are not unusual during the fishing season.
Long Island South Shore (Jamaica Bay to Great South Bay)
The most extensive
acreage of tidal wetlands and the greatest diversity of habitat in all
of New York.
Offshore fishing 80 miles to the Canyon is a thrill of a
lifetime. Providing opportunities to fish for shark, tuna or marlin as
well as the species found Inshore.
While Inshore fishing bays, or skinny water, and river bank
outlets. You will find a variety of species ranging from striped
bass, weakfish, fluke, winter flounder, blackfish, cod, false albacore,
striped bass and bluefish, herring all migrate along the coast and enter
the inlets during season.
Fire Island Inshore (Islip to Hampton Bays) Only 32 miles long
and known the world over. Accessible only by ferry. Offer fishing
for fluke, striped bass and weakfish to name a few.
Long Island Sound East (Montauk, New York to Madison, CT) Fish
the Atlantic Ocean of Long Island Sound, the many inlets, bays and
harbors there are well known for outstanding fishing. fluke, striped
bass, porgies, bonitos, false albacore, blackfish, sea bass and bluefish
and herring .
Long Island Sound Central (Mattituck, New York to Norwalk, CT)
Saltwater anglers will find striped bass, bluefish, sea
bass, blackfish, porgies, fluke and flounder
during the season.
Long Island Sound West (East River to Stony Brook) Fishing can
run from April through December along this 110-mile stretch. Even being
located within the most densely populated area in the U.S., the bite is
almost always hot for striped bass, bluefish, weakfish,
porgies, sea bass, blackfish (tautog), fluke and winter
flounder.
Block Island Sound (Montauk to Block Island) From May to
November, the surrounding waters are the “Bermuda of the North” because
of the monster striped bass and bluefish, fluke, jumbo porgies, sea
bass, blackfish, tuna and shark that migrate into the area
during our fishing season.
Whatever your fishing interest the various inshore inlets, offshore
banks, wrecks, reefs, bays, rivers or lakes.....Fishing in New York
offers enough of a reason to wet your line.
